This is the Political NO-HATE Zone. This is a place where people of every political stripe can express their views along side of others who have different or even opposite views to theirs. But they do so with RESPECT.

You could call it a social experiment, if you wish.

I believe this can actually be done. Perhaps I have too much faith in my fellow men, but I don't think so. I DO understand that interacting here, in this manner, WILL BE CHALLENGE for some. The question is whether YOU are up to that challenge.

The atmosphere I am trying to create here will exist to the degree that each person contributes to it - the more who treat others with respect, the easier others will find it to return the favor.

The PURPOSE of this site is to create a SAFE SPACE for people of dissenting or similar political views to meet and talk about political issues being debated in U.S. politics, with the end goal of GREATER UNDERSTANDING of each other, and GREATER UNITY as a nation.

I believe this site CAN be successful in its purpose if you try your best to keep the following points while using this site:

1. Try to lay aside the tendency to demonize people of different views. Try to assume that the intentions of the other person are good, even though their views are different. While there are certainly people of ill-intention in the world, while you are here on this site, try to consider that the exception, not the rule.

2. Resist the "easy way out" of calling names or otherwise insulting the person or being condescending when debating someone. This is really just an admission that you lack a substantive argument. Debate the person with REASON and FACTS.

3. Try to research data yourself, rather than assume that because a particular radio or TV personality said something that it must be true. For instance, if something is claimed about a bill in Congress, LOOK at the bill and see if it actually says that. Try to check the sources of information you get if you can.

Even though I created this site, I certainly have my own viewpoints on politics, and I believe in full-disclosure. You probably want to know who I am, as it could affect your decision as to whether to use this site or not. Well that's fair enough. Check out the About Me and UF tab for that info.
